All Grain-Free & DCM Concern
warningStructural DCM Concern — No Grain-Inclusive Option Exists
Every Go! Solutions formula is grain-free with lentils, peas, or chickpeas as the primary carbohydrate sources. Unlike Acana (which offers Classics with grains), Wellness (which has Complete Health with oats and brown rice), or Taste of the Wild (which launched Ancient Grain lines), Go! Solutions offers no escape route within the brand for owners who want to reduce legume exposure.
Even the Sensitivities LID line designed for allergy management uses peas. The allergy benefit (single protein) and DCM concern (legumes) are structurally bundled together.
For DCM-susceptible breeds: choose a food where grains — not legumes — are the primary carbohydrate source.
check_circleRecall History
Petcurean Go! Solutions has no major recall history with the FDA or CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency). As a smaller independent brand without shared large-scale contract manufacturing, cross-contamination risk from co-produced brands is lower than for Diamond Pet Foods-produced brands.
Pros & Cons
thumb_up Pros
Independent Canadian brand — Petcurean is not owned by Mars, General Mills, or any large CPG conglomerate. For owners who prefer dedicated, specialist pet food companies, this is a meaningful differentiator.
Triple fresh deboned meat in Carnivore — chicken, turkey, and duck each listed as separate deboned fresh meat ingredients, plus named meals. High animal protein representation.
Sensitivities LID line — single animal protein + potato for allergy management. Duck and salmon options.
No artificial colors, preservatives, or synthetic flavors.
Probiotics in select formulas.
Canadian ingredient sourcing priority.
thumb_down Cons
Every formula is grain-free — there is no grain-inclusive option in the Go! Solutions lineup. Brands like Wellness and Acana offer grain-inclusive alternatives; Go! Solutions does not. Every formula falls within the FDA's DCM investigation pattern.
High lentil, pea, and chickpea content — the Carnivore line has lentils, peas, and chickpeas appearing consecutively in the ingredient list. All three are core subjects of the FDA's DCM investigation.
Sensitivities LID is also grain-free — the allergy management line uses potato + peas as carbohydrates. Peas remain a DCM-concern ingredient even in the LID formula.
Limited distribution in Korea — primarily available through parallel imports. Supply consistency is lower than mainstream brands, with potential freshness variation between batches.
Limited clinical trial data — no independent peer-reviewed feeding trial data comparable to Hill's or Purina Pro Plan.
Price — above mainstream brands (Iams, Blue Buffalo) though below Acana and Orijen.
Who Should (and Shouldn't) Buy
Good Fit
Non-DCM-susceptible dogs needing high-protein grain-free
The Carnivore line offers triple fresh meat and ~36% DM protein. For breeds without documented DCM susceptibility, it's a more ingredient-transparent grain-free option than Taste of the Wild.
Dogs with confirmed chicken or beef allergies needing LID
Sensitivities duck or salmon offers single animal protein + potato for elimination diet use. Note: the pea content means it's not the lowest-DCM-risk LID option — Natural Balance L.I.D. with sweet potato is preferable for DCM-susceptible breeds.
Owners who specifically want an independent Canadian brand
Not owned by Mars, General Mills, or Smucker's. Alongside Champion Petfoods (Acana, Orijen), Petcurean is one of the few remaining independent Canadian premium pet food specialists.
Poor Fit
DCM-susceptible breeds (Golden Retrievers, Dobermans, etc.)
Go! Solutions has no grain-inclusive option. For DCM-susceptible breeds, choose a food where grains — not legumes — are the primary carbohydrate: Purina Pro Plan, Hill's Science Diet, or Royal Canin.
Owners needing reliable long-term supply in Korea
Official domestic distribution channels are limited. If you're planning long-term feeding, verify supply availability before committing to this brand. Parallel import disruptions can force abrupt diet transitions.
Owners who need clinical research-backed nutrition
Petcurean does not have the depth of independent clinical nutrition research that Hill's or Purina Pro Plan possess. For dogs with specific health conditions requiring evidence-based dietary management, a clinically validated brand is more appropriate.
compareAlternative Recommendations
High-protein grain-inclusive, no DCM concern: Purina Pro Plan Adult Chicken — ~30% DM, grain-based carbs, AAFCO feeding trial
Grain-free + lower DCM concern with grain option: Taste of the Wild Ancient Grain — ancient grains reduce legume load significantly
Single-protein LID + lower legume content: Natural Balance L.I.D. Salmon & Sweet Potato — sweet potato primary carb, lower pea fraction
자주 묻는 질문
Q. Who makes Go! Solutions?
Go! Solutions is made by Petcurean Pet Nutrition, an independent company headquartered in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1999, Petcurean also produces Now Fresh (using fresh and frozen meats) and Summit (performance line). It is not owned by Mars Petcare, General Mills, Smucker's, or any other major CPG conglomerate — an increasingly rare position in the premium pet food market.
Q. Every formula is grain-free — how serious is the DCM risk?
It's a real concern that should inform your decision. The FDA's ongoing DCM investigation focuses specifically on grain-free, high-legume diets — exactly what every Go! Solutions formula is. The investigation has not established definitive causation, and most dogs fed grain-free high-legume diets do not develop DCM. However, for DCM-susceptible breeds (Golden Retriever, Doberman, Boxer, etc.), this dietary pattern carries a documented risk signal that justifies caution. The structural problem with Go! Solutions is that there is no grain-inclusive option to fall back on within the brand.
Q. How does Sensitivities compare to Natural Balance L.I.D. and Acana Singles?
All three are OTC single-protein LID formats. Natural Balance L.I.D. uses sweet potato as the primary carbohydrate — lower in peas and legumes, making it the better choice if DCM concern is also a factor. Acana Singles uses 60%+ animal ingredients with named single proteins (lamb, duck) from its own facility, providing higher protein density. Go! Solutions Sensitivities is a grain-free LID with peas included. If the priority is allergy management without legume concern, Natural Balance L.I.D. is structurally safer.
Q. Isn't triple protein bad for dogs with allergies?
Correct — the Carnivore triple-protein line is not appropriate for allergy management. Identifying an allergic trigger requires restricting protein to a single novel source. Feeding chicken + turkey + duck simultaneously makes it impossible to isolate the cause of a reaction. The Carnivore line is for healthy dogs without allergies who benefit from protein variety and high animal content. For allergy management, use the Sensitivities single-protein line instead.
Q. Is Go! Solutions available in Korea?
Availability is limited. Go! Solutions is primarily sold in Korea through parallel import channels on platforms like Coupang and Naver Shopping. There is no stable official domestic importer as of 2024. If you plan to feed this long-term, check supply before committing — parallel import availability can be inconsistent, and an abrupt food transition due to supply disruption stresses the digestive system.
